Lindsey Shaffer

Social Worker Trainee

(she/her)

The therapy space is a place where you can be authentically you.

Hi! I’m Lindsey Shaffer (she/her/hers), and I believe therapy should be a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly. My approach is all about working together—my goal is to be alongside you as we work through whatever challenges you’re facing, and help you tap into the resilience you already have.

Therapeutically, I have a strong interest in sexual wellness, LGBTQIA+ issues, religious trauma, and life transitions, particularly for college aged adults. I experienced first hand in my own therapy journey how tough it can be to be vulnerable, so I work to create a comfortable, inclusive, and welcoming environment where you feel at ease. Together, we’ll explore ways to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy listening to Japanese rock/pop music, hunting down vintage sweaters at the thrift store, and baking sweet potato brownies (seriously, they’re so good!). Please note I wear an N95 mask during sessions; clients are welcome to do whatever they need in order to feel most comfortable. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your journey to healing and growth!

Training & Education

I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a clinical concentration from Wright State University. I’m currently pursuing my Master of Social Work with a focus in mental health and substance abuse at The Ohio State University. I am currently supervised by Megan Roesch, MSW, LISW-S.

I believe therapy should be as unique as the person seeking it, which is why I take an eclectic approach in my therapeutic style. Modalities I like to draw from include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Attachment-Based Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing
