Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Online & In-person in ohio
At times, we may feel as though we have limited control over our lives.
We might feel stuck or powerless and notice a sense of defeat as we try to work on the things causing us distress. While this universal experience understandably causes discomfort, ACT is a unique therapeutic modality that can help you refocus and prioritize the things you can control.
ACT is a mindfulness-based therapy that recognizes some things cannot be avoided and that our attempts to avoid them can sometimes cause more harm than good. With ACT, you can learn to co-exist with the hardships to cultivate values-based behavior change.
Through guided sessions, you can use ACT in your therapy journey to identify what truly matters to you, develop strategies to overcome obstacles, and live in accordance with your values.
what is acceptance and commitment therapy?
In sessions, your therapist will help you to establish non-judgmental acceptance of your internal experiences including your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. By using mindfulness to observe these experiences, you can learn to respond more effectively and in a way that aligns with your priorities and values. Through successful use of ACT, you may notice that the distress of control will feel less overwhelming as you clarify your personal values and take steps towards your goals.
